This new smooth vegetable tanned leather, unlined and with just a hint of sheen, fits that brief perfectly. It's a little less thick than some of our other unlined belts, which makes it extra soft and pliable, and noticeably lighter around the waist too. The slight gloss keeps it smart rather than rustic, and the rich cognac colour is warming and complex, carrying hues of both brown and orange rather than sitting as one flat tone — handle it a little and you'll start to see a lovely tonal pull-up effect that shows off just how good this leather really is.

We've paired it with a burnished brass, bridle-style buckle, which gives the whole thing a mellower, more earthy feel than a polished finish would — understated rather than showy, and a natural match for the warmth of the cognac.
